A Message From Our President

2019 was a banger year for AZCARE! We are so thrilled with where our rescue has traveled. We have pulled together an amazing team of not only Board members, but awesome fosters and volunteers. All of our people have come together with the same goals, to save lives! There is no end to the generosity that our people display. We have volunteers that spend their precious spare time cleaning the habitat, doing laundry and keeping our babies happy. Fosters that go out of the way to ensure the well being of their furry house guests as well as making sure they are so well rounded that they would do great in any new home. And then we have our tireless Board, who spend day and night working on all the trivial aspects of keeping a rescue running.

We have had our share of medical cases this year. We’ve had a
few one-eyed wonders, an intense case of stomatitis that required full teeth extraction, amputated tails, a couple FIV kitties and an emergency c-section. But we pulled them all through and found each loving, forever homes. This is not to say that we didn’t have our losses. We all know that, try as we might, we can’t save them all. But we come together to cry and console each other and then pull up our chins and work harder on the next one.

But, as with anything, we know sometimes forever isn’t always forever. We did get a few returns that we welcomed with open arms. Ensuring the best life for our animals is a priority, even if that means trying over and over. Seeing these kitties again is sad, and joyful at the same time. I am pleased to say that we found new homes for every one of this year’s returns.
