Punky is the sweetest girl who just wants to be held and loved on. We are writing this extra note to explain her situation, so you have a full understanding before pursuing adoption.

Punky was perfectly healthy when she went to be spayed. Unfortunately, she did not do well with the anesthesia and her heart stopped just as the surgery completed. The vet worked very hard on her and was able to bring her back. It took almost 3 minutes, so the vet was worried about her outcome. She came home to our President’s home so she could have full time care. She was very weak, unable to move, stand, or eat. She also started having seizures and looked to be completely blind.

After weeks of intensive treatment, love, and care, Punky, has made an almost complete recovery! She runs and plays and begs to be picked up and snuggled. She will nap with you forever if you let her, and her seizures have completely stopped. The only lasting effects currently is that her eyesight has not returned. We believe she may possibly be able to see shadows occasionally but nothing more. Her hearing has kicked into full gear, and she will follow you by your footsteps and coming running when you call.

Punky will need extra care and adjustment time. She will need help learning where her food and litter box is. This takes time and you will need to expect accidents. She has often gotten to the litter box, but can’t figure out how to get into in. I keep pee pads around the box for just this reason to help with easier clean up. I also have a low entrance litter box to make it easier. Please note that she will need a home that is “safe” for her, and we will make every effort to ensure that.

Hello, I’m Punky

My favorite thing to do is Explore and cuddle. I am a little furry love bug. I love my people, my sisters and really everything.

What makes me special is I am tiny but brave. My whole little life has been filled with fun, snuggles and play. Nothing is scary to me. I think my big dog brother is cool, the vacuum and broom are big toys to chase, and all my people are my play mates and warm beds.

I want my new owner to know I like to have friends: If you will be gone all day, I hope you have cat or dog buddies for me to hang out with.

When I am feeling playful I like to…Wrestle with sisters, chase string and I can’t get enough of the laser pointer. When it is time to rest I sleep On the closest human or in a kitten pile with my sisters.
