AZ CARE Rescue is looking for interns who are as passionate about animals as we are and want to partner with our rescue to work to reduce the euthanasia rate in our state. We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation which operates a no kill rescue and foster care program for stray, abandoned and neglected dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens. Interns with a variety of skills are needed to ensure the success of our rescue – only together can we make the difference in their lives!

Job Summary:
Calling all proficient writers! If you are a student who is looking to learn about applying your skills towards grant writing, this is a great opportunity to use your writing and researching skills and gain professional experience. AZ CARE Rescue is seeking a GRANT WRITING INTERN to join our team. We are looking for interns who are as passionate about animals as we are and want to partner with our rescue to work to reduce the euthanasia rate in our state.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Developing and writing high-quality grant proposals (including narratives, budgets, financials, incorporating relevant and current statistics, funder requirements, and other supporting documentation)
- Researching new grant prospects and ensuring alignment with current program priorities, strategic plan, initiatives, and mission
- Partners with board of directors to compile financials and data in support of grant applications
- Coordinates with the board of directors to maintain organized and accurate electronic grant files
- Complete other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
- Ability to read and interpret documents (such as accreditation requirements, agency funding guidelines, procedure manuals)
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to solve practical problems
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task effectively
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- High attention to detail and accuracy

We are looking for interns who are as passionate about animals as we are and want to partner with our rescue to work to reduce the euthanasia rate in our state.
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Participate in brainstorming, creation, development, and implementation of community fundraisers
- Prepare accurate records and reports on the goals of the fundraising plan
- Nurture new and old relationships with collaborative partners
- Assist in the organization of special events, including donor/volunteer appreciation events
- Creation of strategies to retain and grow current partners, volunteers, and donors
Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
- Ability to keep projects on track creatively and in accordance with production deadlines
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- A positive attitude and flexibility for last-minute changes

- Research information for rescue related topics
- May conduct interviews for research in person or on the phone
- Prepare well-structured drafts using digital word processing and publishing platforms.

- Strong organization and time management skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- A positive attitude and flexibility for last-minute changes
- Required: Knowledge and proficiency of Photoshop
- Preferred but not required: Knowledge and proficiency in Illustrator and InDesign
